Venango County Local Hazard Mitigation Plan 2025 Update Process Begins

The Hazard Mitigation Planning  Update Process has begun in Venango County. The Hazard Mitigation Plan serves as a blueprint for reducing property damage and saving lives from the impacts of natural and human-made hazards.

The Plan will be updated over the next year with the next meeting occurring on November 20th. Two sessions will be held to kick-off the Local Hazard Mitigation Planning process. To maximize municipal participation, communities and organizations may choose between an AM or a PM session. The morning session will be held in-person, and the evening session will be held virtually on Google Meet to accommodate stakeholder schedules. The material covered at each session will be identical, and communities need only attend one session.

Meeting 2: Risk Assessment and Mitigation Action

Wednesday, November 20th

Municipal One-on-One Meeting Reservations with the Planning Team

We are reaching out to schedule individual meetings with municipalities to discuss hazard risks. This will be an opportunity for you to express any concerns you have about hazards impacting your community and for us to begin to collaborate on how to leverage this plan to mitigate your risk. We will review data from the 2020 plan, talk about hazard events over the past 5 years, identify critical assets, and assess your vulnerability.

Participation in the planning process is required to maintain your municipality’s eligibility for mitigation grant funding. By scheduling and attending this meeting, you are not only helping tailor the mitigation strategy to your specific vulnerabilities, but also ensuring you maintain funding eligibility!

These meetings will take place from August to September. Any local officials involved in planning, mitigation, floodplain management, and/or disaster preparedness are encouraged to join. Please click the link below to reserve a day and time for your municipality to meet with the planning team.

Please reach out to Caroline McGonigle with any questions or concerns at caroline.mcgonigle@mbakerintl.com

Note:  Please only reserve one "seat" per municipality. A meeting invitation will be emailed to you following your reservation that you then may share with your fellow municipal leaders.
